CONTINUOUS CASTING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To improve the quality of an ingot and the safety by disposing a support which supports and cools the ingot on the outlet side of a block casting mold. CONSTITUTION:The knife-shaped support 6 is disposed movably forward and backward in the drawing direction of the ingot 5 on the outlet side of the block casting mold 1. A cooling medium is supplied by a proper means to the inside of the support 6. The mold 1 and the ingot 5 is moved and the support 6 is held in the retreated position in the stage of casting. The support 6 is advanced to be inserted between the ingot 5 and the mold 1 to hold the surface of the ingot 5 when the block mold stops. The cooling medium is supplied into the support 6 in this stage to cool the ingot 5. The recuperation of the heat of the ingot near the support 6 is prevented by the above-mentioned method and therefore bulging and breakout are obviated. The quality of the ingot and the safety of the operation are thus improved.
