摘要 PURPOSE:To extend the life of a solid-state dye Q switch element in the dark condition and to prevent microcracking due to laser beams, by dispersing dithiolate complex in a polymer film containing no nitrogen or oxygen atoms. CONSTITUTION:In the present neodymium laser, a laser rod 1 is subjected to pumping when flash lamps 2 are lit, and inverted population is thereby produced. Since a solid-state dye Q switch element 4 absorbs laser beams, no oscillation is started until the inverted population compensates the loss of laser due to the absorption of the Q switch element 4. Once the oscillation is started, the inverted population is allowed to have a surplus and this surplus of the inverted population is emitted as a giant pulse. Since the solid-state dye Q switch element 4 contains no nitrogen or oxygen atoms, no such atmos coordinate to the central metal atoms of the dithiolate complex dye and therefore the dithiolate complex dye is not reduced. Consequently, such element is allowed to have a long life, and is made free of microcracking due to the laser beams.
