Antibiotic A47934 is produced by fermn. with streptomyces toyocaensis NRRL 15009. Thus, a 2nd-stage culture was used to inoculate a pH 6.9 medium of glucose 25, potato dextrine 30, molassess 3, soybean grits 15, casein hydrolyzate 1, and CaCO3 2.5g/10L. It was incubated at 30≦̸C for 4.5 days during which it was stirred and aerated. The broth was filtered and the title compd. I was purified from the filtrate by chromatog. on ion exchange resin, silica-gel, and ion exchanger again to yield 55.6 g I from 141L broth. I inhibited tram-pos. bacteria and improved the growth of chickens and pigs. |
