PURPOSE:To realize the titled storage medium capable of being rewritten, having a high S/N ratio and less deterioration and which need not be electrostatically charged by using an electrostatic front phenomenon shown by the interface between two layers of a fluid. CONSTITUTION:A voltage is impressed between a translucent electrode 2 and a black electrode 5 in writing to heat the desired position and the desired position is heated in erasing without impressing a voltage. When a voltage is impressed between the translucent electrode 2 and the black electrode 5, electric charge is condensed at the interface between an electrolyte 3 and a polystyrene film 4. At this time, when the black electrode 5 is heated by a laser beam, the polystyrene film 4 is also heated. When the polystyrene film 4 is heated to a temp. above the softening point of the film, fine ruggedness is formed at the interface between the electrode 3 and the polystyrene film 4 by an electrostatic front phenomenon, hence light is scattered and finally the interface looks white. |
