PURPOSE:To secure preservability of recording performance before printing and stability of records after printing, by providing an acidic colorless dye precursor and a basic substance capable of color forming reaction with the dye precursor on the same side of a base. CONSTITUTION:A thermal recording layer of a recording material is gradually heated, and when the temperature of the layer reaches the glass transition temperature of microcapsule walls enclosing therein a basic colorless dye precursor as a core and the melting point of an acidic substance or the glass transition temperature of microcapsule walls enclosing therein the acidic substance as a core, the microcapsule walls become permeable, and the basic dye precursor reacts with the acidic substance to form a color. When the temperature is further raised to reach the glass transition temperature of microcapsule walls enclosing therein an acidic colorless dye precursor as a core and the melting point of a basic substance or the glass transition temperature of microcapsule walls enclosing therein the basic substance as a core, the microcapsule walls become permeable, and the acidic dye precursor reacts with the basic substance to form a color. Accordingly, the multicolor forming type thermal recording material capable of forming colors with different hues at a lower temperature and a higher temperature can be obtained. |
