PURPOSE:To facilitate working extremely by placing a reception-side and a transmission-side optical fiber in abutting relation with each other so that the end area of the reception-side optical fiber is made a little bit smaller than the end area of the transmission-side optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:The end area of the abutting surface atop of the transmission- side optical fiber 1 is made a little bit smaller than the abutting end area of the reception-side optical fiber 4 of a reception-side connection adapter 5 which has the reception-side optical fiber 4 inserted into a hole 6, and the end surfaces of both optical fibers 1 and 4 are set abutting on each other and brought into contact with each other by a coupling 7. The end surface of the transmission- side optical fiber is smaller, so this end surface never separates from the end surface of the reception-side optical fiber and a defect in axial alignment between holes 3 and 6 is corrected, and when the diameter of the transmission-side optical fiber 1 is, for example, 10% less than that diameter of the reception-side optical fiber 4, the eccentricity between the holes 3 and 6 is allowed up to 5%, so that light is transmitted completely. |
