PURPOSE:To obtain a method of film forming of a recording medium that can make continuous manufacture possible and realize mass production by scattering raw materials of a recording layer while running a film substrate, bonding and laminating the recording layers, and taking up after coating a protective layer made of resin. CONSTITUTION:When a film 4 is sent out from a pay-out roll 1 and carried to a can 3, raw materials 9 of a photomagnetic recording layer filled in an evaporation source tank 8 are formed to a film by vapor deposition, sputtering, etc., and the recording layers are laminated. Then, a protective layer is coated on the recording layer by running on a roller 6 on the way of transport from the can 3 to a take-up roll 2. The molten resin filled in a hopper 5 is supplied to the roller 6. Formation of fine flaws and adhering of dust on the recording layer and film 4 due to contact of the recording layer with the take-up roll 2 and the back of the film after the film 4 is taken up by the take-up roll 2 can be prevented by the protective layer.
