PURPOSE:To obtain a small-sized, compact optical fiber by forming the fiber and a lens shape in one body. CONSTITUTION:The output terminal 2 of the optical fiber 1 for optical transmission is worked in one body to form the lens shape A. For example, the output terminal 2 of the fiber 1 which is made of silver bromide to a 1mmphi diameter and a 1mm length is worked primarily into a shape A at about 300 deg.C and polished with a diamond; when carbon dioxide laser beam of 50W is made incident on the input terminal 3 of this fiber, the light is converged on the focus without using any lens of ZnSe, etc., like before. Consequently, the periphery of the output terminal is made extremely compact as compared with a conventional optical fiber optical system and this is very effective in a field where compact structure is necessary such as medical usage, material working of electronics, and precise working. |
