PURPOSE:To always block up a gap according to a fluctuation with time, by a method wherein a water absorption inflatable high molecular material, having a potential expansion amount higher than an expected maximum enlarging amount of a gap, is charged into a gap produced between a civil engineering structure and a ground. CONSTITUTION:When a gap 14 is produced between a civil engineering structure 10 and a ground 12, a maximum enlarging amount of a gap, expected to be produced within a life of the civil engineering structure 10, is calculated through exploration of surrounding soil. After the bottom of the gap 14 is filled with a dummy filler 16, a water absorption inflatable high molecular material 18, having a potential expansion amount higher than the calculated maximum enlargement amount of the gap, is charged onto the dummy filler 16. In this case, the high molecular material 18 absorbs penetrating water for swell to block up the gap 14 to prevent the occurrence of scour due to the flow of underground water. Further, even if the gap 14 is deformed and swollen with time, as far as an absorption force remains, the high molecular material 18 is swollen to always bring the gap 14 into a blocked-up state. |
