This overtaking indicator comprises a signal transmitter E operated by the same switches as the lateral flashing indicators, a signal receiver R fixed in the rear part of the vehicle and transmission means C of the received signal which arrive at an indicator S of the optical, acoustic or opto-acoustic type which is fixed inside the driving compartment of the vehicle to be overtaken.
