PURPOSE:To strengthen a frame intensity and to obtain the easy adjustment of precision by forming a pair of left and right sideframes and an a upper frame in one body with a single plate and providing an opening window to which an original placing transparent plate is supported and fixed on the upper frame. CONSTITUTION:On the upper part of the main body of a device 10, an original placing glass plate 12 is supported and fixed on the upper part of a frame 14 which is covered with a cover case 13. In the inside of the frame 14, a picture reading unit 18 which is installed on a carriage substrate 17 is arranged possible to move reciprocally. The frame 14 is made of the single iron plate having a thickness of 1.6mm and both left and right sideframes 51 and 51 and an upper frame 52 are formed in one body and both sideframes 51 are bent as sectionally U-shaped and a front frame 53 and a rear frame 54 are welded at the front and rear faces. In the frame 52, an opening window 55 to which the glass plate 12 is supported and fixed is formed. Thus, a rigidity for bending or twisting is increased and the frame intensity is strengthened and also the precision of assembling is heightened and less adjustment of focus etc. is required.
