PURPOSE:To attain the highly efficient positioning job in simple constitution by checking whether the output analog signal of an arithmetic means is set within a prescribed range or not and deciding the end of the positioning job under the prescribed conditions when said analog signal is set within the prescribed range. CONSTITUTION:A positioning device 15 is provided with an operating part 1 which is driven by a servo motor 2, a pulse encoder 3 which obtains a feedback signal 3a to the revolving state of the part 1, a control part 14, etc. then the device 15 drives the motor 2 via an adder/subtractor 6, a D/A converter 7 and a servo amplifier 8. Here the 2nd pulse generator 11 is added to deliver a positioning command end signal 11a together with a position detecting circuit 12 which delivers a position detecting signal 12a from the signal 11a and an analog signal 7a and a clock circuit 13 which delivers a positioning job end signal 13a when the signal 12a lasts for a prescribed period of time. Thus a fact that the positioning job is through completely at the part 1 is detected by the signal 13a supplied from the circuit 13. The part 14 outputs the next data signal 4a.
