PURPOSE:To make possible an arbitrary sampling at a constant frequency by arranging so that a Josephson element is biased by microwaves of a constant intensity and switched by pulses and holding the DC voltage produced at both ends of the element constant by a feedback circuit. CONSTITUTION:The biasing microwaves from a microwave oscillator 2 are irradiated on a Josephson element 1 through a demultiplexer 3. The pulses from a pulse oscillator 5 are demultiplexed by an equal demultiplexer 9 into equal waves, one side pulse are irradiated on the element 1 in superimposition with measured electro-magnetic waves M by an electro-magnetic wave synthesizer 8 while the other pulse are irradiated on the element 1 after the delay by a delay line 10. The element 1 performs switching while the DC voltage produced at both ends of a resistance 12 is maintained to be constant by the feedback circuit 14 consisting of a comparator 11 and a variable attenuator 7. In this case, the feedback microwaves are equivalent to electro-magnetic waves M to be measured and it becomes possible to effect sampling of a series of electro-magnetic waves by changing the delay time of the delay pulses.
