PURPOSE:To form an antenna suitable for radio wave direction finder mounted on aircraft by adding an antenna system comprising radiation elements arranged respectively to a midpoint of each side and each apex of a square having a side (d) and a phase compensating circuit having four feeding terminals corresponding to each direction. CONSTITUTION:The antenna system 1 comprising 8 radiation elements arranged at four apexes and each midpoint of the four sides of a square having a side (d) is energized by a feeding circuit 2. Four feeding terminals Ex<+>, Ey<+>, Ex<->, Ey<-> are provided corresponding respectively to azimuths represented by elements Ex<+>, Ey<+>, Ex<->, Ey<-> at midpoint of each side of the square to the feeding circuit 2. When a high frequency with amplitude 1 and angular frequency is fed from the feeding terminal Fx<+>, the feeding circuit 2 is excited by a relative complex amplitude. Then the antenna system 1 gives a sharp unidirectivity whose side lobe and back lobe levels are suppressed over a wide range while using the x<+> direction as the major radiation direction by the synthesis of the directivity. Further, the accuracy is improved by adding properly the 2nd order phase compensating circuit.
