An elastic horseshoe (6) is fastened on the hoof by fastening elements which in each case have two holding pins (1, 2) interconnected by a web (3). Each of these fastening elements is pushed through two bores (4, 5) arranged in the horn wall (11) of the hoof and secured on the underside of the elastic horseshoe (6) by locking members (9, 10). The latter are arranged countersunk in recesses (7, 8) of the horseshoe (6). The fastening device can be mounted in a simple manner even by a layperson and allows perfect monitoring of the fastening operation so that injuries to the hoof of the horse can be reliably avoided. The reaction force transmitted from the shoe (6) to the horn wall (11) is distributed over a large area thanks to the relatively large webs (3), which contributes to the reliability of the fastening and to the protection of the hoof. <IMAGE>
