PURPOSE:To obtain an information recording system capable of recording, reproducing and erasing information by employing an inter-crystal dislocation alloy dislocating between crystals after and before recording as a recording medium. CONSTITUTION:The recording medium has at least two types of crystal structures in the solid state, holds the crystal structure inherent to one temperature area in the other one, and/or composed of metal or alloy causing different volume changes in the crystal state. A recording unit 10 having said recording medium is used. Namely, a laser beam 16 is condensed on a border surface between a thin film 12 and a substrate 14, and the reflected light beam 19 of the laser beam 16 from the intercrystal dislocation thin film 12 is condensed on a sensor 22. A large pulse 36 is used for writing information on the recording unit 10, while a small pulse 38 is used for erasing information from the recording unit 10. If information in the selected area of the recording unit 10 is read out, a read pulse 40 is given to the recording unit 10 in the area. |
