This invention relates to a cutting insert for a slot milling tool. The cutting insert (10) is provided with recesses (19) in the cutting corners (12) behind each second cutting edge (16) in the flank wear direction of the cutting insert (10). A shank (20) of the recess (19) and the second cutting edge (16) form a narrow flange (23) which limits the surface exposed to flank wear.
