Both for the effective protection of window openings and other openings in the house area and as swimming-pool cover, roller shutters are designed, which consist of individual slats which are connected limitedly pivotably in relation to one another via hook-like and eye-like projections. The plastic slats, which consist of a roll-up-friendly profile, are closed at the outer edges via plates which consist of plastic and which are stuck with their side surfaces onto the edges. The side surfaces are fine-grooved or roughened and thus make possible a tight closure of the chambers formed in the slats by the various transverse webs. This effective closure has an effect both with regard to the heat insulation in the window and in the swimming pool and also as additional stabilisation. By means of locks formed only in one place in the region of the projections, the slats are effectively blocked in the transverse direction of the roller shutter so that damage by lateral displacement of the slats is effectively prevented. <IMAGE>
