A description is given of a tube arrangement for heat exchangers or the like which has an elliptical or rectangular cross-section and transverse connectors which are installed in the interior at a spacing from one another over the tube length and in each case form an angle whose apex lies in the central plane of the tube arrangement. In the event of thermal expansion of the tube arrangement, the angle of the transverse connectors increases up to 180 DEG , so that the now rigid transverse connectors prevent the tube arrangement from retracting to its original initial circumference. Owing to the irreversible expansion, the cooling pins located between the tube arrangements are mechanically clamped, so that it is possible to eliminate welding operations or the like for mounting them.
