PURPOSE:To obtain a picture reader with a simple construction and low cost by controlling independently the taking out of a signal from each of a store-type image sensor and executing a signal processing by one set of a signal processing circuit. CONSTITUTION:A MOS type image sensor 95 executes alternately store and read out with a prescribed cycle. When a store start signal is outputted from a controller 52, on the trailing edge of a vertical synchronizing signal after the termination of a normal store, a flip-flop 97 is set at a synchronized timing and along with this, a timer 70 starts to operate. Because an And gate 98 is closed by the setting of the flip-flop 97, the input of a master clock to a driver 96 is ceased. In this case, the taking out of a signal is tentatively interrupted. Even in this case, the store is continued because a blue color light which transmits a liquid crystal 100 in open state and a blue color filter 101 is inputted to a photoelectric transfer part 95a. Thereby, only one signal processing circuit is needed and cost is reduced remarkably.
