PURPOSE:To improve signal-to-crosstalk characteristics at output terminals by cascading M-input 1-output optical switches to which M sets of 1-input N- output optical branching device are connected to a 2-input 1-output optical path switching type optical switch element. CONSTITUTION:An M-input N-output optical switch matrix is constituted by connecting 1-input N-output optical branching devices 21-2M provided corresponding to input terminals 11-1M and M-input 1-output (M=2<m>) optical switches 31-3N mutually, and output signals appear at output terminals 41-4N. In this optical switch matrix, the optical switches 31-3N are constituted by cascading 2-input 1-output optical path switching type optical switch elements 5ij (i=1-m and j=1-M/2) in (m) stages. Consequently, crosstalk light is suppressed each time the it is passed through one optical switch element 5ij and signal-to-crosstalk characteristics at output terminals are improved. |
