METHOD AND DEVICE FOR REDUCING REVERSE CURRENT

PURPOSE:To suppress the increase in electrode consumption and running cost by reverse current by passing electric current from a power source of a current rectifier to the anode and cathode in an electrolytic cell to effect electrolysis and interrupting an electrical connection circuit between the two electrodes at the same instant when the electrolysis is interrupted. CONSTITUTION:A relay circuit 14 is provided in the current rectifier 6 in the stage of effecting electrolysis by passing the current to the anode and cathode in the electrolytic cell from the current rectifier 6. The rectifier 6, on receiving of the input from an AC power source 15, passes the current from a (+) terminal 16 and receives the same from a (-) terminal 17. The output to the circuit 14 connected electrically to an output power source switch 18 is stopped and the circuit 14 turns off as well when the switch 18 is turned off. The resistance between the (+) terminal 16 and (-) terminal 17 of the rectifier 16 is thus made infinite and the reverse current flows any longer between the anode and the cathode.
