PURPOSE:To reduce the number of parts, and to make it easy to mount an ejector apparatus or the like, by moving forward and backward a moving platen by a servo motor, and clamping molds using the stress generated in ball screws when molds are clamped. CONSTITUTION:When a serve motor (M) is rotated forward to drive a toothed pulley 10, a toothed belt 11, and toothed pulleys 9a, 9b, ball nuts 5a, 5b secured to the toothed pulleys 9a, 9b are rotated to cause a moving platen 3 to move along the ball screws 4a, 4b. When molds 6, 7 are closed, and the servo motor (M) is rotated forward, the molds 6, 7 are clamped, and the reaction causes the ball screws 4a, 4b between a front platen 1 and the moving platen 3 to be pulled, and causes the ball screws 4a, 4b between a moving platen 3 and a rear platen 2 to be compressed. By the pulling stress and the compression stress of the ball screws 4a, 4b, the molds 6, 7 are clamped. The control of the clamping force is performed by controlling the torque of the servo motor (M).
