摘要 PURPOSE:To decrease magnetite contained in slag, to make the copper loss contained in slag an extremely low value and to attain the increase of the collection degree of copper by covering the surface of molten copper in a smelting furnace with a solid reducing agent and adding a small quantity of reducing agent so that only the reducing agent consumed by the combustion is replenished. CONSTITUTION:The oxidizing reaction is caused in a reaction shaft 1 by introducing a copper ore 2 into the shaft 1 and sending an O2 source 3 therein to obtain slag 5 and a matte 6 in a setter 4. Slag 5 is drawn out through a slag hole 7 while preventing the involution of O2 from a low part of the slag layer. A small quantity of heavy oil as a reducing agent is introduced into a smelting furnace 13 wherein a top layer is covered with coke 11 through a reducing agent introducing port 8 provided to one part of a slag charging gutter 9 while reducing remarkably Fe3O4 contained in the slag. In this period, the slag 5 is discharged through a slag hole 12 after the settling of the slag 5 and the matte 6 is sufficiently finished. As a result, the copper loss contained in the slag can be regulated to an extremely low value e.g. 3% because Fe3O4 contained in the slag can be held in an extremely low value without oxidizing it.
