PURPOSE:To couple exactly a pair of members by sufficient strength, by engaging a projecting part of metallic member with a prescribed part of the other member, conducting electrically and heating the projecting part and applying a prescribed pressure to the projecting part, and deforming its tip part, in a pair of coupling members. CONSTITUTION:For instance, slits 5, 5 of a bridge 3 are inserted externally to projections 4, 4 of a retractor base, and a fitting position is determined. Subsequently, an assembly body C is contained in a working device D which has remodeled a spot welder. Next, a pressure tool 13 is made to descend by a hydraulic pressure, etc., and projecting parts 14, 14 which become the upper electrode are abutted on each tip of the projections 4, 4 by a prescribed pressure. Subsequently, a prescribed current is conducted electrically or a prescribed time between opposed upper and lower electrodes 14, 12. The part of the projection 4 is heated selectively to a desired temperature since its sectional area is small. Thereafter, it is pressed by a prescribed pressure for a prescribed time by the pressure tool 13. Next, the electric conduction is stopped, and said part is pressed further for a prescribed time by the same pressure. In this way, the tip of the projection 4 of a side plate 2 projecting from the bridge 3 is deformed in a shape which has been expanded vertically in the pressure direction.
