The invention relates to a rack cleaning installation, preferably for very small to smallish hydroelectric power stations, for sorting out floating debris (foreign bodies) from the river water. In accordance with the invention, the collecting channel for deposited light parts is attached in the upstream river water so that a portion of the floating debris can pass with the river water into the collecting channel without manual work. From here, the floating debris can then flow off at any intervals after actuation of a shut-off slide by hand or automatically. To facilitate the manual cleaning operation, the rack stem is guided and held in a sliding rail. The rack prongs can be given a sloping position for breaking up deposited soft parts on the grid bars. To select the clearance between the grid bars, the same are subdivided into two layers - a firmly installed layer over the entire channel width and a further layer for setting to smaller widths.
