PURPOSE:To enhance sensitivity, image quality, and storage stability by incorporating a specified yellow coupler. CONSTITUTION:The intended color photographic sensitive material contains a yellow coupler represented by the formula: C-A-PUG-B in which C is a cyan coupler component to be released by the coupling reaction with the oxidation product of a color developing agent; A is a group to be released from C by the coupling reaction; B is a group for protecting PUG and capable of releasing PUG on coupling or hydrolysis; and PUG is a photographically useful group when it is converted into PUG alone or A-PUG. Since such a PUG-releasing yellow coupler is doubly blocked, long in diffusion distance, capable of becoming active after two steps of reactions, enhanced in activation energy, and high in the polarity of a component at an active site, it can be easily dispersed on the surfaces of oil droplets, and smoothly proceeds in the reaction with the color developing agent, thus permitting the obtained photosensitive material to be enhanced in the storage stability and the reactivity, and improved in the sensitivity, the graininess, and the sharpness. |
