PURPOSE:The titled polyester fiber that is composed of a polyester containing mainly structural units of ethylene terephthalate and phosphorus atoms, thus having a specific value in cross section shape of filament and being suitable for baby cloths and bedcloths. CONSTITUTION:The objective polyester fiber contains, as main structural units, ethylene terephthalate, 0.05-1.0wt%, calculated as phosphorus atom, of a phosphorus compound such as methyl (2-carboxyethyl)methylphosphinate, and having a cross section of filament with less than 1/5, preferably 1/10-1/30 of secondary moment ratio of the minimum cross section to the maximum cross section.
