<p>A pitting implement comprising a tool support frame (11) having at least one wheel (12) which supports at least a portion of the weight of the implement and draw bar means (13) for connection to a towing means, the support frame (11) supporting a pitting tool (17) comprising a disc having an axis of rotation oblique to the longitudinal axis of the implement and having an external periphery comprising a first portion (A) of a first radial dimension and a second portion (B) of a second radial dimension whereby the first radial dimension is greater than the second radial dimension and wherein the first portion (A) when in engagement with the ground surface will rotate with movement of the implement and form a pit, said second portion is provided with an extension means (27) which will engage with the ground surface and cause rotation of the pitting tool (17) when said second portion (B) is in close abutting relationship with the ground surface and on movement of the implement over the ground surface but not form a pit in the ground surface. Furthermore, there is provided a seed deposition means (19) mounted to the implement behind the pitting tool (17) so as to deposit seed into the pit during the passage of the first portion of the pitting tool through the ground surface.</p> |
