The invention relates to a vertical silo (10), for example for storing cement, which possesses a storage container, which is elongate in the longitudinal direction and is of circular cross-section, and a substructure which projects away from the storage container in the longitudinal direction of the latter and on which the storage container rests in the operating state. In order to ensure that the overall length and height of said vertical silo are not too great during transportation, a silo is designed such that the substructure (16, 18) of the silo (10) can be brought at least partially (18) into the outer region within the longitudinal extent of the storage container (12) and, at that point, into its clearance which is formed by the rectangle circumscribing the cross-section of the storage container (12).
