The invention relates to a process for producing an electrically insulating, moisture-resistant and gas-tight connection between a first electric conductor, provided with a PTFE sheathing, and a second electric conductor, sheathed in a temperature-resistant insulating material. A plug of a thermoplastic fluoropolymer is arranged at the point of connection between the conductors and fixed. The invention is characterised in that a plug of a thermoplastic fluoropolymer is used. Its melting point is below its processing temperature, above the melting point of PTFE. It is further characterised in that the plug is surrounded by a mould of a temperature-resistant material and arranged together with the latter at the point of connection and is fixed, in that the plug located in the mould is made to melt and produce an adhesive bond with the PTFE sheathing of the first conductor and the insulating material of the second conductor, is heated over an appropriate period of time to its processing temperature and in that the connection produced is allowed to cool. <IMAGE>
