摘要 This transmission takes place via preferably a monomode optical fibre at high information transmission rates, for example 564 Mbit/s, particularly for so-called local area networks in which different transmission bandwidths are appropriate for the opposite directions of transmission. In this arrangement, an optically narrow-band semiconductor component, for example a semiconductor laser, is selected for the broadband transmitter (at the exchange end) whilst an inexpensive optically wide-band semiconductor component, for example a light-emitting diode, is suitable for the narrow-band transmitter (at the subscriber end). The optical spectra of the transmitters are within the range of the minimum of the total dispersion of the optical waveguide and are separated by optical filters.
