Shrink ring

In the case of shrink rings, until now the necessary stress has as a rule been produced by thermal expansion of the ring before said ring was pushed onto the shaft. According to the invention, the expansion is not produced thermally but by means of compression screws which are provided in weakened regions of the shrink ring. In the expanded state, the bore of the ring is ground to a size which allows the ring to be pushed onto the shaft. The ring is then pushed onto the shaft and, by releasing the screws, the ring is drawn together and hence shrinks onto said shaft.
