In a process for grinding minerals (1) having a multichamber tube mill (6) by the wet process, the material to be ground is preground in a first grinding chamber (9) of the multichamber tube mill (6) and subsequently finely ground in at least one further grinding chamber (11) of the multichamber tube mill (6), the ground material (17) being graded after emerging from the multichamber tube mill (6), and the excessively coarse material being fed once more to the multichamber tube mill (6) as return material (22). In order to ensure an optimum degree of utilisation and an optimum performance of the multichamber tube mill (6) and ground material having grains which essentially correspond to the desired grain size, the return material (22) is supplied to the second grinding chamber or to a following grinding chamber (11) in the direction of passage through the multichamber tube mill (6). <IMAGE>
