PURPOSE:To make uniform the calcination in the transverse direction of a pallet in a DL sintering machine by changing the piling shape and gain size distribution of the raw material in an ore feed hopper so that the temp. of the sintering ore is uniformly distributed in the transverse direction of the pallet. CONSTITUTION:Compounded sintering raw material is charged into the ore feed hopper 3 and is charged onto the pallet 6 by a reciprocating conveyor 1 moving in the transverse direction of the pallet 6. The material is then ignited and is conveyed to an ore discharge part. Sintered ore 11 falls in the form of lumps in the ore discharge part. The temp. at the section of the sintered ore in the terminal part of the pallet is measured by a thermometer 8 and the temp. distribution in the transverse direction is detected by a speed calculator 9. The moving speed of the conveyor 1 is determined in accordance with the temp. distribution and the speed value is inputted to a speed control device 2, by which the above-mentioned moving speed is changed. More specifically, the grain size of the raw material is coarse or the packing density thereof is small in, for example, the low-temp. part and therefore the moving speed of the conveyor 1 in the stage of passing through the piling part of the raw material in the hopper 3 corresponding to the low-temp. part is lower than the moving speed in the other part. The piling shape of the raw material in the hopper is thus made into a projecting shape and the finely grained raw material is obtd.
