PURPOSE:To enable correct recognition regarding character input thereafter by freshly registering input pattern in case of mis-recognition when a character is inputted. CONSTITUTION:When 'OO' 'SAKA' are written in the character writing area T1 and when the order of stroke of the input character is wrong, or when the character is of style peculiar to the writer causing mis-recognition, e.g. in case 'SAKA' is recognized as 'NUKU', a character pattern of input character 'SAKA' mis-read as this writer's character 'NUKU' is freshly registered. This procedure is designated with a pen in the area T2 of the tablet 1 designating registration mode, and after setting to registration mode, character code in inputted by designating with a pen, hexadecimal number from O-F, the character code to be designated in the character code designation area T0. When the JIS code is not matched therewith, the writer is informed by display and re-inputted with the character code.
