PURPOSE:To eliminate the crank angle sensor thus to simplify the structure by electrically processing the output from a sensor for measuring the intake air flow and performing detection of the engine rotation and intake stroke and discrimination of cylinder. CONSTITUTION:Under cranking at the start of engine, sensor output circuit 5 will obtain the intake air flow Q on the basis of the output from an airflow sensor 4. Said output is fed through DC-AC converting circuit 9 to a rectangular shaping circuit 11 thus to read out the intake stroke timing. The rectangular wave is also fed to an engine rotation detecting circuit 14 to calculate the engine rotation N by employing an external timer 15 for the purpose of time calculation. Furthermore, the output from said converter circuit 9 is fed to P-P level (amplitude of waveform) detecting circuit 10 and cylinder discrimination circuit 16 to discriminate the cylinder on the basis of P-P level of respective waveform. Then the fuel injection quantity is calculated through an operating circuit 6 on the basis of the intake airflow Q and the engine rotation N.
