PURPOSE:To provide the titled compsn. having excellent flame retardance, by blending natural or petroleum asphalt or a mixture thereof with a complex phosphorus chloride/bromine compd. CONSTITUTION:50-90% natural or petroleum asphalt or mixture thereof is mixed with 50-10% complex phosphorus chloride/bromine compd. to obtain a flame-retardant asphalt blend compsn. The compsn. is inexpensive and of great utility and can be widely used in the fields of vehicle, housing, civil engineering, furnishing tile, back sizing material for carpet, flooring material, etc.
