PURPOSE:To enable a higher operation rate with the detection of slopping in a converter by a method wherein a photoconductive detector is provided in a through hole on the side wall of a converter and receives light in the converter to be divided into a plurality of wavelength areas preset and then, the area of the wavelength areas devided is computed. CONSTITUTION:Oxygen is blown into molten iron 17 and a slag 16 in a converter 1 from a lance 19 to extract phosphor and sulfur with agitation. A photo detector 6 is inserted into a through hole 4 on the side wall of the converter and converts light in the converter into an electrical signal with photoelectric conversion element 10. Then, the light in the converter is divided into wavelength areas, for example blue, green and yellow with a divider 11 and the areas of each color area is computed 12 and compared with the reference for deciding on the slopping to judge 13 the slopping. Then, as the slopping begins, yellow based color grows and the long wavelength area increases. The division of the light in the converter into wavelength areas facilitates the detection of slopping and elevates the operation rate with an effective inhibision thereof.
|
