PURPOSE:To improve picture quality by a method, in which color display discharge cells and auxiliary discharge cells are arranged in a matrix shape while the arrangement in the odd or even number lines is made in order of the red, green discharge cells and the auxiliary discharge cells and the arrangement in the even or odd number lines in order of the green, blue discharge cells and the auxiliary cells. CONSTITUTION:When each discharge cell is shifted in the line direction reversely from each other by about a half dot while G (green cell) dots are shifted to about the center of the dots of the upper and lower lines, the G cell dots are uniformly dispersed on the whole screen so that color patterns basing on the three primary colors do not appear. Further, when the X (auxiliary cell) dots are shifted every other line by about one dot the neighboring X lines mutually touch partly at the cell corners while stably generating auxiliary discharge. Further, since the X dots are completely shifted in the interline columnar direction, black longitudinal stripes basing thereon are not recognized and as the bright R dots and X dots are arranged in the same line, the stripes are still more unrecognizable. When further replaced by X dots and B (blue) dots, the dark longitudinal stripes of R dots and X dots are more suppressed, thus excellent picture quality being obtained. |
