PURPOSE:To output and display a pattern as it is without up-down nor right-left inversion and to improve operativity and to attain automation by using an optical means which rotates an image instead of a right-angled prism. CONSTITUTION:Light emitted by a lens lamp 10 as a light source is converted into parallel light by being passed through a lens 12. The rays of light are made incident on a half-mirror 14 while its wavelength characteristics are also adjusted, and the rays of light are reflected partially. The partially reflected light illuminates an IC chip 16. The illumination light is reflected by the surface of the IC chip 16 and transmitted partially through the half-mirror 14 provided on an optical axis at about 45 deg.. The optical axis is bent vertically through a roof type prism 24 and light polarized by rotating one direction of an image is made incident on an ITV 26. The image inputted to the ITV 26 is displayed on a display device 22. In such a case, the right-left direction of the image of the IC chip 16 is rotated through the operation of the roof type prism 24. The up-down direction is corrected by the rotation of the ITV 26.
