PURPOSE:To effective transmit to a maximum limit the energy of deceleration of a vehicle to a driving shaft, by isolating the connection of the driving shaft from a flywheel in acceleration of the vehicle when a speed of the flywheel substantially agrees with the value obtained by multiplying a speed of the driving shaft by the minimum speed change ratio of a variable speed transmission means. CONSTITUTION:In a regenerative condition of energy of deceleration, if a flywheel speed NF substantially agrees with the speed NEXPF obtained by multiplying an engine speed NE by the final target pulley ratio PF as the minimum speed change ratio of a variable speed transmission means 18, a flywheel clutch 19 is turned off disconnecting the variable speed transmission means 18 from a flywheel 7. In this way, a device, disconnecting the clutch 19 when effective energy of deceleration to be transmitted from the flywheel 7 to an input shaft 5 of a transmission disappears, enables a regenerative condition of deceleration energy stored in the flywheel 7 to be adequately decided.
