The servo device comprises mainly in combination: - a measuring device (10) for measuring the actual angle //c formed by the projections on a horizontal plane of the two booms; - a measuring device (11 and 12) for measuring the actual picking angle //c and ss of each of the booms, -calculating devices (13 and 14) for calculating the angles //c and //c in relation to the angle ss and to the length p of the connecting bar used; - comparators (15 and 16) of which the outputs are respectively connected to the control members (17 and 18) of the angles //c and //c. Application: handling of heavy loads on board of cargo ships.
