PURPOSE:To produce an isotropic graphitic material having superior physical properties and a low anisotropy ratio by kneading a skeleton material contg. specified mosaically calcined coke breeze with a binder, pulverizing the kneaded material, molding the resulting powder under hydrostatic pressure, and graphitizing the molded body by baking. CONSTITUTION:A binder such as coal tar is added to a skeleton material of a carbonaceous starting material contg. mosaically calcined coke breeze having <=15mum average particle size and 1-2 ratio of major axis size/minor axis size and contg. <=10% by area of a stream patterned part. They are kneaded and pulverized, and the resulting powder contg. 6-18wt% volatile matter is molded under hydrostatic pressure. The molded body is graphitized by baking in a nonoxidizing atmosphere. |
