NEW MATERIAL:2-Chloro-N-(4,6-dimethoxy-5-pyrimidinyl)-N-[1-(1-pyrazolyl) ethyl]acetamide shown by the formula I. USE:A herbicide showing extremely improved herbicidal effects on weeds growing in plowed fields in about germination - growth period, especially by treatment before germination, exhibiting excellent effects on gramineous weeds such as Echinochloa vrus-galli Beauv. var. praticola Ohwi., etc., cyperaceous weeds such as nutgrass, broad-leaved weeds such as Amaranthus viridis L., etc., especially on gramineous weeds, having no phytotoxicity to crops, showing excellently selectively herbicidal effects especially on cultivated areas of soybeans, cotton, and beet. PREPARATION:A compound shown by the formula II is reacted with a compound shown by the formula III (Hal is halogen) in an organic solvent in the presence of a dehydrohalogenating agent to form a compound shown by the formula IV in high yield, which is reacted with a compound shown by the formula V in an inert solvent in the presence of a chain transfer catalyst, to give a compound shown by the formula I in high yield. |
