<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a ceramic membrane having the good separation capacity of a condensible component, by immersing a ceramic porous body, of which fine pores were impregnated with an alumina sol, in an aqueous sodium silicate and applying steam treatment to the impregnated one. CONSTITUTION:A porous base material having relatively large pores 11 comprising foamed silica, sintered alumina or mulite is impregnated with an alumina sol 9 obtained by the hydrolysis of aluminum alcholate or an aluminum chelate composition and the impregnated base material is immersed in an aqueous sodium silicate solution to be held in high temp. steam. Next, the impregnated base material is immersed in boiling water and the alkali component thereof is removed by washing. If this operation is repeated several times, effect is enchanced. By this method, a ceramic membrane having fine pores with a pore size of 10Angstrom or less can be prepared.</p> |
