PURPOSE:To obtain a mold having a high bacteriochlorophyll even under a dark condition, by cultivating aerobically a specific bacterium capable of producing bacteriochlorophyll in a medium containing a carbon source. CONSTITUTION:A bacterium belonging to Rhodopseudomonas sulfidophila, capable of producing bacteriochlorophyll, is aerobically cultivated in a medium containing a carbon source capable of assimilating the bacterium in the presence or absence of light rays. Consequently, a mold having a high bacteriochlorophyll content is obtained, and bacteriochlorophyll is collected from it in high yield. |
