<p>The present invention relates to mechanical transmissions for linear movements from a driving devicd (20) to an object (21) by means of a bendable transmission agent (23, 40, 43) with both pushing and pulling capability. In a traversing gear according to the invention, said transmission agent is a close-lapped single or double spiral, with such a coil diameter and wire thickness that it, when unsupported, is not bent sideways by the compressive force used. Guiding is only needed in bends and can be provided outside the spiral (23, 40) by a guiding cavity (29) (Figure 2) or inside the spiral by a guiding rod (35) (Figure 3). The surfaces of the guides are preferably coated with teflon.</p> |
