PURPOSE:To prevent the breakage of fibers by maintaining the temp. of air at the specified value in the stage of producing the glass fibers by blowing the air flow in the direction opposite from the molten glass flow drawn out of an orifice plate having many orifices. CONSTITUTION:The molten glass flow is supplied to the orifice plate 1 provided with the many orifices arranged to high density and many glass filaments 2 are spun. The air flow is blown at the same time toward the bottom surface of the orifice plate 1 from a nozzle assembly 3 consisting of plural pieces of nozzles juxtaposed below the orifice plate 1 to prevent the confluence of the glass filaments 2. The air flow to be blown in this stage is cooled preliminarily by a refrigerator 10 and the temp. of the air is detected by a temp. detector 12 and is so adjusted as to be maintained approximately at the specified temp. within a 25-10 deg.C range in the inlet of the air nozzle 3 to prevent the breakage of the glass filaments 2.
