Prefabricated insulating block modules are formed from ceramic fiber blankets folded into a plurality of cold and hot face folds. The folded and compressed insulating blankets are mounted to a support bracket which secures each cold face fold by means of a support rod which in turn is insulated by the blanket from the heat and corrosive gases in the furnace.
